Two brothers murdered by their cousins in Surat

Surat, Nov 5 (UNI) In a shocking incident, two brothers were killed by their three cousins, all hailing from Ganjam district in Orissa, in Katargam area of the city yesterday over a property dispute.

Police said the victims, identified as Bhagirath Pradhan (25) and his brother Shyam (22), both residing in Geetanagar slums in the Katargam area, were attacked by their paternal cousins when they were fast asleep. The victims were working as powerloom workers.

The three accused, identified as Kashinath Pradhan and his brothers Kanaiya and Bhagwan, were also living in the same locality.

According to police, the trio entered the house of their cousions and allegedly attacked them with sharp weapons and inflicted multiple inuries. The grieviously injured brothers were rushed to SMIMER hospital by a relative. However, Bhagirath died on the way itself, while his younger sibling succumbed to injuries yesterday.

The three accused were soon arrested and booked for the twin murder. The victims and the accused were not on good terms due to a property dispute in their native village, they added.
