Militant escapes from court in Kashmir after firing in air

Srinagar, Nov 4 (UNI) A militant today gave the slip to police from a court complex in south Kashmir where he was to be produced in connection with a militancy-related incident.

Officials are, however, yet to confirm the incident.

Sources said Rayees Ahmad alias Reyees Kachroo was taken to Pulwama from Srinagar Central jail this morning to be produced in the court.

They said as the militant came down from the police vehicle, he reportedly snatched a service weapon from a guard and fired several rounds in the air before absconding.

Details about the date of his arrest and involvement was not immediately known, sources said.

A massive hunt has been launched to nab him, they added.
