Women give birth to child in moving train
Tiruchirapalli, Nov 2 (UNI) Thanks to the timely help of the railway officials, a pregnant woman who developed labour pain while travelling in an express train gave birth to a male child at a private hospital at Manaparai near here last night.
According to Railway sources, Jemina (21) and her husband Stalin (26) from Chennai, were on their way to Alagiamandapam village in Kanniyakumari district, by Chennai-Nagercoil special express train.
When the train approached Manaparai station, Jemina developed labour pain. Stalin and co-passengers approached the railway guard, who in turn alerted the Station Master of Manaparai and allowed the train to halt as it had no stopage at that station.
From there, Jemina was taken to a private hospital where she gave birth to a male child.
In a similar incident, another woman from Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh gave birth to a female child in a train toilet at Erode Railway junction, last night.
Sources said, Fathima Bibi and her relative Janma Bai were on their way to Madurai, by the Nijamuddin-Trivandrum express train.
As the train reached Erode Railway junction, Fthima bibi developed labour pain. Her relatives and other women passengers took her inside the train toilet where she gave birth to a female child.
On information, a medical team rushed to the train and shifted the mother and the baby to the Government Headquarters Hospital at Erode, the sources added.
