Tapasi Mullick murder case verdict on Nov 11
Chandannagore, Nov 1 (UNI) Additional District and Sessions Judge Amarkanti Acharya today fixed the date of announcement of verdict of the Tapasi Mullick murder case on November 11.
After hearing the arguments of CBI counsel Partha Tapaswi and defence lawyers Arindam Bhattacharya and Keshab Lal Mukherjee and examining the reference papers submitted by both sides, the Chandannagore fast track court announced to give the verdict of the murder case on November 11.
The charred body of Tapasi Mullick, the daughter of a land loser farmer of Singur, who had participated in the movement against land acquisition, was found in a ditch in the erstwhile Tata Motors small car project site at Singur on December 18, 2006.
The CBI started investigation in the case on January 12, 2007 and subsequently arrested CPM worker Debu Mallick on June 24, 2007.
Later, after interrogating Debu Mallick, the CBI arrested Hooghly district committee member of the CPM, Shruid Dutta on June 28, 2007.
Meanwhile, CPI(ML) and Trinamool Congress supporters lodged their protests with regard to the case outside the court premises.
Tight security arrangements were in place in and around the court premises to prevent any untoward incident during the hearing.
