Shimla, Oct 31 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal has said 28,000 vacancies in government jobs have been targeted to be filled in the state during the current financial year.

Of these, 18,000 vacancies would be filled in the Education Department alone, he said while addressing an impressive public meeting at Jangi village in Kinnaur district during his two-day tour of the tribal district.

Mr Dhumal said that about 8,200 vacancies had already been filled up in various departments during the last ten months. He said that efforts were afoot to generate more employment avenues to the youth in the industrial and hydel power sectors where 70 percent jobs for Himachalis had been made mandatory.

Mr Dhumal said that there were limited employment avenues for the youth in the public sector and called upon the educated youth to take up self-employment ventures to lead a respectful life. The State Government was making concerted efforts to generate various avenues in that direction.

The Chief Minister said it was the endeavour of the State Government to carry out need based, speedy and balanced development of the entire tribal area. There would not be any financial constraint in carrying out developmental activities in the tribal areas, he added.

During his two-day visit, the Chief Minister announced development projects, worth Rs 12.70 crore, to be undertaken in tribal district of Kinnaur.

He inaugurated projects, worth Rs 4.70 crore, and laid foundation stones of projects, worth Rs 8 crore, in the district.
