PDP announces its candidates for the first phase of polls in J
Srinagar, Oct 29 (UNI) A day after deciding to join the democratic process, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) announced the candidates for eight assembly segments, going to polls on November 17 in the first phase of elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
The PDP has not named any candidate from Kargil and Nobra constituency in Ladakh region.
The names were cleared by the Parliamentary Affairs Committee (PAC), which met here today under the presidentship of party chief Mehbooba Mufti, a PDP spokesman said.
He said Nazir Ahmed Bhat would contest from Gurez, Advocate Nizamudin Bhat from Bandipora, Yasir Reshi from Sonawari assembly segments in Kashmir Division.
Mr Tashi Gyalson would contest on party ticket from Leh, Mohammad Amin from Zanskar assembly segment of Ladakh Division, he said, adding Dr Mumtaz Bukhari from Surenkote, Sardar Rafiq Hussain Khan from Mendhar and Imtiyaz Hussain Bandey from Poonch Haveli assembly segment in Jammu Divisions.
