Tushar Gorculdas new MD of Adidas India

New Delhi, Oct 29: Tushar Goculdas, the newly appointed Managing Director of Adidas India, on Wednesday, Oct 29 said the Indian sports goods industry has been on a strong growth curve and his focus will be to position the company as the leading sports brand in India.

''My primary focus over the coming months will be to strengthen and cement adidas' position as the leading sports brand in India,'' he said after Adidas India appointed him as the new Managing Director. He had joined Adidas India, the Indian subsidiary of Germany-based adidas-Group AG, in 2007 as Director Strategic Projects and was responsible for identifying, developing and driving strategic projects to support growth and profitability objectives for the Adidas Group in India, a company statement said.

With a career spanning almost a decade in allied fields of the marketing industry, he has earlier worked as Project Leader at Boston Consulting Group, Category Manager at Colgate Palmolive and Branch Manager at Whirlpool.

Mr Tushar graduated from Delhi College of Engineering and has an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.

The Group has more than 33,000 employees and sales of EUR 10.3 billion with products being marketed in more than 160 countries.
