Fleeing undertrial nabbed by police in Punjab

Jalandhar, Oct 29 (UNI) An inmate of the Central Jail who had escaped from the civil hospital here where he had been admitted for medical treatment following an ailment was arrested at Nakodar Chowk last night.

SP S K Kalia while giving details said that the undertrail, Manjit Singh, a resident of Hoshiarpur and an accused in a murder case escaped from the civil hospital last night. He was being guarded by two constables, Baljit Singh and Jaswinder Singh, who were also found missing when a police party visited the hospital on being informed of the escape of the undertrial.

Mr Kalia said that the police party acting on certain clues managed to nab the undertrial from Nakodar Chowk in the city. A case under sections 120 B, 223 and 224 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the accused and a departmental enquiry has also been initiated against the two constables.
