CPI(M) to form a democratic front minus Congress and BJP
Balasore, Oct 26 (UNI) West Bengal Minister for Health and Panchayatraj Suryakanta Mishra today said the Left parties would form a secular democratic front minus the Congress and the BJP in the coming elections.
Mr Mishra told mediapersons after attending a two-day party's state committee meeting here that the picture would be cleared after elections in six states scheduled to be held in next few months time.
''The BSP, JD(S), TDP and some secular parties were with us but a clear picture would emerge after the results of the elections were declared,'' he said.
Mr Mishra said the Left Front slogan in the coming elections would be defeat BJP and reject the Congress.
He said the CPI (M) would launch a week-long campaign in Orissa beginning from October 30 against communal violence, terrorism and against the failures of both Union and State government.
Mr Mishra said people of the country were suffering high price rise of essential commodities and the problem of terrorism and communal violence in almost all parts of the country.
He criticised the Union government for its failure to contain the price of petroleum products and signing of the civil nuclear deal with the US.
Mr Mishra said the Union government was interested to cut the price of aviation turbine fuel(ATF) to extend benefit to the private airlines but hesitated to lower the price of petrol, diesel and cooking gas even after the prices of crude oil have been down by almost fifty per cent per barrel.
The CPI(M) leader also criticised the state government for its inept handling of the Kandhamal issue and the recent flood.
He said the food insecurity was the main problem at Kandhamal but instead of addressing the problem the BJP was talking about conversion.
