Security reviewed for first phase J
Jammu, Oct 25 (UNI) Laying emphasis on special security provisions for contenders and venues, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone today reviewed security arrangements for the first phase of elections to be held in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Various security forces, which would be deputed from outside the state for election duties, will be deployed on all sensitive and hyper-sensitive polling stations of the district, IGP Jammu K Rajendra Kumar here said at a high-level meeting.
The IGP, however, discussed security arrangements for elections in district Poonch, while instructions were also issued to all the agencies concerned.
Mr Rajindera asserted that all security agencies should remain extremely vigilant during the assembly elections in the state.
''All officers should be alert against any threat from militants and anti-social elements and also take firm action against those who attempt to disturb peace in the region,'' the IGP added.
