Illicit crackers seized in large quantity; 35 held

Lucknow, Oct 25 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh police has seized 64 quintal illegal crackers and fireworks and arrested 35 people in this connection after conducting raids across the state before Deepawali.

According to state Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Brijlal today, irregularities came to light at 27 places after police raided as many as 3,237 shops and godowns under a drive yesterday.

A total of 64 quintal of crackers and fire works were seized and 35 people nabbed, he added.

Licenses of 13 such shops have also been cancelled, the ADG informed.

Recently, incidents of crackers explosion at illegal units have charred some people in Lucknow and Kanpur.
