Firms fined for power theft
Bangalore, Oct 25 (UNI) Karnataka Power Transmission Ltd and ESCOMS have slapped a hefty penalty on 21 firms amounting to more than Rs 70 lakh for indulging in theft and pilferage A press release issued here today said a steel rolling mill in Belgaum was imposed a fine of Rs 40 lakh for power theft last night while a Mysore based firm which deals in flush Door Manufacturing unit was fined of Rs Rs 4,83 718.
A construction company was fined of Rs 2,85 800 for committing irregularities in usage of power, the release said.
A criminal case has been registered against the companies, the release added.
