71 kg silver seized, two held

Bilaspur, CG, Oct 25 (UNI) Two people were today arrested and 71 kg silver, worth Rs 15 lakh, seized while being illegally conveyed from Katni to a bullion trader here, from a rickshaw in Sadar Bazar area, police said.

Katni-residents Rajesh Soni and Shiv Soni were arrested by mobile unit of police when they were going in a rickshaw. Thirty-two silver rods were seized from them.

The duo said the silver belonged to a trader Diggi Soni. They had been told to convey it to a shop and they were searching its address. No bill or document about silver was found in their possession.

Police suspected silver was being conveyed illegally.

Interrogation was underway.
