Bengali woman among two dead in Jammu

Jammu, Oct 24 (UNI) A Bengali woman was among the two people who died in Jammu region in the last 24 hours, police here today said.

''A woman was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her residence under suspicious circumstances,'' the police told UNI and added that no suicide note was found from her possession. The body of the deceased has been shifted to the District Hospital, Samba for postmortem.

The deceased has been identified as Bishani Sarkar, wife of Kumaresh Sarkar, resident of West Bengal, at present putting up at Krishna colony in Samba district.

In another incident, a woman died of severe burn injuries in Nagrota area on the city outskirts.

''A woman identified as Rita Devi, resident of Sandhue Sail, Kauri Bair in Nagrota area, died of serious burn injuries,'' the police said.

A case has been registered under section 174 of Criminal Procedure Code while investigations were in progress.
