Hmar students warn 'kidnap-actors' in Mizoram

Aizawl, Oct 23(UNI) The Hmar Students Association(HSA) in Mizoram has asked the candidates, who stage-managed a kidnap during the 2003 elections, not to contest from Tuivawl, Serlui B and Chalfilh constituencies.

The constituencies are claimed to be pre-dominated by Hmar community.

'' We request the candidates, who had shown contempt to the Hmars during the 2003 elections, not to contest in any of the three constituencies,'' a statement issued by the HSA said today.

It added that the HSA would not be responsible for any untoward incidents that might befall them if they contest.

The association also requested all the militant outfits of the neighbouring states not to involve in the Mizoram assembly elections.

Interestingly, H Ngurdingliana (Congress), Vaninmawia (MNF) and H Laltanpuia (MPC), contested the Suangpuilawn seat (now renamed Chalfilh), along with independent candidate H Lalsangzuala, who was allegedly backed by underground outfit HPC-D.

The three candidates were kidnapped a few days ahead of the polling day.

The investigations by Mizoram DIG (Training) Lalsangzuala Sailo, obtained by Zozam magazine under RTI Act, had revealed that the alleged kidnap was stage-managed by the kidnap victims.
