District administration gears up for Mt Girnar Parikrama
Junadadh, Oct 23 (UNI) The district administration is all set to make the annual 36 km long Mt Girnar Parikrama a success here.
Beginning on November 9, the four day circumambulation, is known as ''Green Parikrama'', as it is held after the monsoon when the entire mountain trail is dotted by greenery.
Superintendent of Police Harikrishna Patel visited the Parikrama area yesterday and walked upto one point to have some idea about the problems which may arise during the parikrama. He asked the officials to make appropriate security arrangements in view of recent terror attacks across the country and in Gujarat.
The State machinary, alongwith some non-government organisation, is undertaking cleaning operation in the Parikrama route. Every year around six lakh devotees, who take part in the Parikrama, litter the route with bags and other such things. Last year some students joined the cleaning drive.
According to some volunteers, who provide food and other facilities during the Parikrama, this year too many Sanyasis and charitable bodies will provide free food and other facilities at different camps or points throughout the route.
