Chennai: Heavy rains lash in early hrs
Chennai, Oct 22: Heavy rain lashed the city and its suburbs in the early hours of Tuesday, Oct 22 inundating several localities. Several residents of Vyasarpadi, Kodungaiyur and Korukkupet in the north and Velachery in the south said that rainwater had entered their houses following incessant showers. Southern suburbs of Keelkatalai, Madipakkam, Pallavaram and Tambaram were also affected and many residents preferred to stay indoors.
In the 24 hours ending 8.30 am on Tuesday, Oct 22 Nungambakkam received 71 mm of rainfall. Meenambakkam received 96 mm, which is an unusually high amount for a single day. Tambaram received about 70 mm.
