Months Before A Rs 17-Crore Wedding, Ketan Agarwal Was Allegedly Killed By Fiancee And Her Lover On Trek

The death of 26-year-old Ketan Agarwal at Lohagad Fort near Pune, initially believed to be a trekking accident, has turned into a chilling murder case that has left two families shattered. Police allege that Ketan was killed by his fiancee, Siya Goyal, and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhry, just months before the couple's wedding.

As the investigation progresses, Ketan's family has raised serious questions about whether members of Siya's family were aware of her relationship with another man before the marriage was arranged.

Family Questions Why Marriage Was Allowed To Proceed

Ketan's grandfather has accused Siya's relatives of encouraging the alliance despite allegedly knowing about her relationship with Chetan.

"We have known the girl's family for 35 years. How could they do this to us? Siya's uncle and aunt pushed for the match despite knowing about her affair," he said.

The family believes the marriage could have been called off if concerns had been raised earlier, avoiding the tragedy altogether.

Ketan's father, Vishal Agarwal, also questioned why his son was allegedly targeted if Siya did not want to marry him.

"If she didn't want to get married, she could have simply refused. We would have cancelled the wedding immediately. Why did they take such a drastic step? What kind of mindset is this? Their mindset is so cruel that someone's 26-year-old son could be killed. Society needs to take note of such a cruel mindset. Where does this ideology come from - their family, their upbringing?" he said.

Police Say Murder Was Planned During Birthday Trek

According to investigators, Ketan had accompanied Siya to Lohagad Fort on June 18 to celebrate her birthday. The couple had become engaged in February and were preparing for their wedding scheduled in November.

After Ketan's death, Siya reportedly told authorities that he had slipped into a valley while taking photographs. However, police later found inconsistencies in her account.

The investigation, based on call records, mobile phone data and other evidence, led police to conclude that the death was not accidental.

SSP Sandeep Singh Gill said Siya and Chetan had allegedly conspired to kill Ketan.

"In investigation we found that Chetan was also present at the crime location and both the accused have admitted to have conspired to kill Ketan Agarwal".

Both accused are currently in police custody while investigators continue to examine whether anyone else was involved.

A Wedding Worth Crores That Never Happened

The tragedy has drawn even more attention because of the scale of the wedding preparations already underway.

Ketan belonged to a prominent construction business family from Pimpri-Chinchwad near Pune. Sources said the wedding celebrations were planned in Rajasthan, with a palace in Jaipur booked for nearly Rs 17 crore. Two private aircraft had also reportedly been arranged to transport guests.

"The families were happy. This incident has come as a huge shock to both families," a relative said.

What was expected to be one of the biggest celebrations for the family has instead turned into a mourning period marked by unanswered questions.

Family Demands Strict Action Against Accused

Speaking to NDTV, Ketan's family said they initially believed the incident was a tragic accident until investigators uncovered evidence pointing towards a conspiracy.

The victim's uncle, Vijay Agarwal, has demanded the harshest punishment for those responsible.

"The only son of the family has been snatched away. The guilty must be hanged and all others who helped them must also be brought to justice," he demanded.

Police continue to investigate the case, including whether additional individuals had prior knowledge of the alleged murder plot. The findings are expected to play a key role as the case moves through the legal process.
