Seven killed in torrential rains, more rains in offing at TN
Chennai, Oct 19 (UNI) The incessant rains in Tamil Nadu during the north east monsoon have claimed at least seven lives during the last 48 hours, even as the weather office forecast more rains in the State during the next 24 hours.
Four members of a family, including a four-year-old child, were crushed to death in a wall collapse at Sattur near Virudhunagar in South Tamil Nadu today.
Three of a family were killed when they were struck by lightning at Oothukadu Village in Kancheepuram District of the State last evening.
Atleast nine people were injured in two separate wall collapse incidents in the state, since last evening. While five construction workers were injured when a portion of TNCC office here collapsed last evening.
A mother and two of her daughters were injured in a wall collapse incident in Tiruchirapalli district yesterday.
Meanwhile, the weather office forecast rain or thunder-showers at many places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry as the trough off the Tamil Nadu South Andhra Pradesh coast persists.
It said the city and its suburbs would generally be cloudy and experience one or two spells of rains, heavy at times.
