PG Teachers Assn.urges Govt to give priority to GHSS students
Tiruchirapalli, Oct 18 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government Higher Secondary School Post Graduate Teachers Association today appealed to the State Government to give priority to students studying in Government Higher Secondary Schools (GHSS) in the free seats quota allotment in the Engineering and other professional courses.
Talking to newspersons here, Association State President P Sankaranarayanan and the Association's District Unit President S Sakthivel said soon after their State General Council Meeting here, a resolution to this effect was adopted at the meeting.
Mr Sankaranarayanan and Mr Sakthivel said time-bound scale and higher wages should be fixed without hindrances, while implementing the recommendations of the sixth pay commission to fill-up the vacancies for Tamil scholars in the GHSS and to regularise the services of all the teachers working under the consolidated pay scheme.
They said suitable post graduate teachers must be promoted as District Educational Officers, instead of recruiting them from outside. A separate 'Directorate' was needed for higher secondary education, they added.
