Car suicide blast wounds five NATO soldiers in Afghanistan

Kabul, Oct 18 : A suicide car bomb exploded outside a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) base at Heart in Afghanistan's on Saturday, wounding at least five soldiers, according to reports.

The explosion took place at the gates of the base, which is run by Italian troops in the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) with some Spanish soldiers also stationed there.

An ISAF media official at the force's headquarters in Kabul said, "We did have casualties - just wounded."

The official said that several were wounded, without being able to give more details. However, ISAF does not release the nationalities of its casualties.

This year, at the end of September, there were about 84 suicide attacks, down from the 119 for the same period last year.
