Chennai, Oct 16 (UNI) Stepping up the campaign to save Tamils in Sri Lanka, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK supremo M Karunanidhi today announced that a massive human chain would be held here on October 21.
In a statement here, Mr Karunanidhi said the human chain would be held at 1500 hrs in the city, to continue to press for stopping genocide against the Tamils in Lanka.
The peaceful agitation, being held with the consent of all party leaders, was also to remind about the resolutions adopted at the all party meeting held on October 14.
In one of the resolutions, the all-party meeting set a two-week ultimatum to the Centre to ensure MPs from Tamil Nadu would resign, if the centre failed to persuade Sri Lankan Government to declare a ceasefire in the period.
Though the human chain would be held in the city, people from other districts could participate in large numbers and make it a massive rally, Mr Karunanidhi said.
Volunteers from all political parties, especially women,students, workers, traders, farmers should participate in the human chain and express solidarity with the suffering Tamils in the Island Nation, he said.
