President condoles Sonu's tragic death
New Delhi, Oct 13 (UNI) President Pratibha Patil today condoled the tragic death of two-year old Sonu, who died after remaining trapped in a borewell near Agra for four days, and issued advisories to various Ministries to prescribe necessary safety standards and take precautions while digging borewells.
The Rashtrapati Bhavan, while taking note of the incident, and some other such mishaps in the country earlier, issued avisories to the Ministries of Rural Development, Urban Development, Water Resources and Home to prescribe necessary safety standards and take safety precautions while digging borewells.
The Ministries had also been asked to accordingly instruct their field formations to ensure strict compliance, a Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesperson said.
Sonu, a two-year old boy fell into a 150 ft borewell at Lehrakapura vilage, about 26 km from Agra, on thursday.
He was brought out today by an Army team after a 90-hour rescue operation. However, doctors declared him dead after preliminary examination.
