Bharuch court acquits Mustafa Dossa from extortion case
Mumbai, Oct 13 (UNI) Mohammed Mustafa Dossa alias Mustafa Majnu, an associate of fugitive don Dawood Ibrahaim and accused in the separate 1993 serial bomb blasts case here, has been acquitted in an extortion case by a sessions court at Bharuch in Gujarat for lack of evidence.
While passing the order, Judge J H Singh said as per the evidence produced before him, benefit of doubt has been given to the accused, Dossa's lawyer Rizwan Merchant told reporters here today.
Dossa, a close confident of prime absconding accused of the 1993 serial bomb blasts Tiger Memon, is facing six more cases. Of them, three cases are under the Terrorist And Disruptive Activities (TADA) Act at Porbandar, Jamnagar and Valsad in Gujarat for his alleged involvement in the landing of the arms prior to the 1993 serial bomb blasts here.
Mr Merchant said an extortion case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code was registered by Bhrauch police in 1995 against him, in which he was tried after deporting him from Dubai in 2003.
He said the court had acquitted Dossa of all the charges levelled against him in the case.
