Wild tusker tramples one to death
Patthalgaon, Chhattisgarh, October 12 (UNI) A tribal was trampled to death by a herd of wild tusker at Krindha village in Raigad district of Chhattisgarh last night.
Deputy Forest Officer of Patthalgaon Madhav Kumar Chowdhary told UNI today that the deceased Hiralal was killed by the elephants when he was looking after a paddy field in the village.
Mr Chowdhary said ''A special security arrangement have been made as the herd, consisting 20 wild elephants, invaded the Patthalgaon region. The elephants turn violent to protect 3 baby elephants, who are the part of the herd.'' He said the elephants had damaged harvests at Kharkatta, Bhainsamuda, Chandagad, Pandripani and Dauwapara villages in the region.
In the past two days forest officials and villagers were trying to drive out the elephants, Mr Chowdhary added.
