Imported soil fungus to increase soil fertility

Sirsa, Oct 10 (UNI) Efforts are being made by Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCS HAU), Hisar, to import soil fungus from abroad so as to increase soil fertility in the state.

This was informed by HAU Vice-Chancellor J C Katyal while addressing farmers in a fair organised on the premises of the office of 'Krishi Vigyan Kendra' here.

He said that sustainable cultivation was the need of the hour. He gave tips to farmers on cultivation, seed and soil treatment and timely use of fertilisers and water for irrigation.

Dr Katyal pointed out that Sirsa was a pioneer district in the production of cotton in the state and efforts are being made to increase wheat production in the district. He congratulated the farmers of the district on using modern agricultural techniques.

Dr R K Malik, Extension Education Director, urged the farmers to adopt cultivation of BT cotton.
