Kakinada, Oct 10(UNI) Sri Kamala Kumaraswamiji, the founder of Andhra Pradesh Hindu Devalaya Parirakshana Samithi (HDPS), who is on a tour of eleven districts by foot, had demanded the Government to ban immediately the sale of temple lands in the name of public auction and also stop taking over of temples by the Endowments Department.

The Swamiji, who arrived here today as part of his padayathra that commenced in Srikakulam District on August six, alleged that several temples were in a deplorable condition due to apathy of the department concerned. His mission was to create awareness among the Hindus for safeguarding the temples and their properties, he added.

He said he would be reaching Tirupati on February 16, covering a distance of 5,000 kms by foot, where a public meeting would be held.

Swamiji had successfully completed his first mission last year by touring 13 districts, covering 3200 kms distance.

He said forceful religious conversions should be avoided.
