2 killed, 5 injured in stampede at Jagdamba temple

Ahmednagar, Oct 10 (UNI) Two people were killed and five others injured in a stampede during the Dussehra procession at Jagdamba temple in Rashin village, around 95 km from here, last night.

The deceased were identified as Dilip Haribhau Kale (40) and Gulab Dinkar Kadam (52), both residents of Karjat Taluka of the district, according to police.

The injured were admitted to a local hospital, police said.

Police Sub Inspector K Dalvi told UNI that the temple was shut for four hours after the incident, but since this morning it has been reopened for the devotees.

The bodies of victims have been handed over to their relatives today and police are making further investigation into the reason for the stampede, Mr Dalvi said.
