Two militants killed in north Kashmir encounter

Baramulla, Oct 9: Two militants were killed by the security forces in a fierce encounter in this north Kashmir district today, official sources said.

They said security forces and Special Operation Group (SOG) of the state police launched a joint operation at village Warpora, Sopore, following a tip off about the presence of militants in a house.

However, when the troops were about to storm the house, they came under fire from militants hiding inside. The fire was returned and in the encounter two militants were killed.

The house was also damaged, they said.
