'No ban on Bajrang Dal for now'
New Delhi, Oct 9: The Union Cabinet on Wendesday, Oct 8 said that no immediate ban will be imposed on Bajrang Dal also will not dismiss the Naveen Patnaik government in Orissa over the spate of anti-Christian violence in the state.
In the meeting union ministers like Ramvilas Paswan and Lalu Prasad strongly argued for an immediate clampdown on the Bajrang Dal, allegedly held responsible for the violence against Christians in Orissa, Karnataka and elsewhere, as well as the dismissal of the Naveen Patnaik government for its failure to protect Christians.
Senior Congress leader Arjun Singh, A R Antulay and S Jaipal Reddy also stood for a ban on Bajrang Dal. However Prime Minister Manmohan Singh pointing to the absence of senior colleagues like foreign minister Pranab Mukherjee and agriculture minister Sharad Pawar sort more time and argued that the government needed to collect more facts to make a foolproof case.
