Idols immersed in Meghalaya

Shillong, Oct 9 (UNI) The week-long Durga Puja celebration concluded here today with the immersion of idols in the Umkhrah and Ganol river in Meghalaya.

More than 100 idols of Goddesses Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswati, and Ganesha and Kartick were taken in a procession through the streets before being immersed in the river.

A procession was taken out by Central Puja Committee before the idols were immersed.

Several Bengali associations had organised cultural programmes during the week-long celebration.
