MP: ABVP demands VC's dismissal for forgery
Bhopal, Oct 9: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) today demanded Bhoj Open University's Vice-Chancellor Kamlakar Singh's immediate dismissal for his alleged copying of PhD thesis.
''The vice chancellor should tender his resignation owning moral responsibility. If he fails to do the governor should dismiss him for this criminal act,'' ABVP's Regional Organisational Secretary Vishnudutt Sharma said while talking to reporters here.
He said it was inexplicable why Madhya Pradesh Governor Balram Jakhar failed to act against the VC despite a forgery case was lodged against the latter. But hoped that good sense would prevail and the Governor, who is also the chancellor, should dismiss Mr Kamlakar from his post.
''Such incident set a bad precedent in the educational circle of not only Madhya Pradesh, but also across the country,'' Mr Sharma said.
He said that this was a first instant in the country that a such serious case is levelled against a vice-chancellor.
Alleging that the government machinery was involved in the case, he said if Mr Singh was not sacked the ABVP would launch state-wide agitation.
ABVP registered an FIR against the VC recently, police added.
