Punjab Kesari chief reporter dies
New Delhi, Oct 8 (UNI) Senior journalist and chief reporter of well known Hindi daily 'Punjab Kesari' Umesh Lakhanpal today died following a heart attack.
Lakhanpal, 50, suffered the attack while he was sitting at the office of Leader of Opposition in Delhi Vidhan Sabha Jagdish Mukhi's office at Old Secretariat.
He died on the way to hospital.
He had undergone bypass surgery some eight years ago, according to sources.
Basically belonging to Himachal Pradesh, Lakhanpal had been associated with the newspaper's Delhi edition ever since its inception.
Known for his grasp of Delhi politics, Lakhanpal had earlier worked with the Hindustan Times eveninger 'Evening News' and was a member of committee which recommends accreditation of journalists with the Delhi government, for several years.
Presently, he was the chairman of the committee.
