Govt gives nod for multicrore hospital complex at Pune

New Delhi, Oct 8 (UNI) The Union Cabinet today approved construction of a Rs 270.77 crore multi-storeyed hospital complex for armed forces' southern command at Pune.

The 1,047-bed hospital with modern facilities would provide comprehensive medical care to service personnel, ex-servicemen and their families belonging to Army, Air Force and Navy, Finance Minister P Chidambaram told reporters after the meeting.

Besides the hospital, residential accommodation for essential staff of the command hospital and medical dental centre will also be built at the complex.

The hospital complex will provide specialist and referral facilities to medical establishments of three wings of armed forces in southern command.

Besides, it will also give training to under-graduatre and post-graduate students of Armed Forces Medical College at Pune. The complex will be affiliated to the college for undertaking research in various clinical areas.
