BJP rubbishes report that Amar Singh, Ahmed Patel exonerated
New Delhi, Oct 7 (UNI) Senior BJP leader and BJP Parliamentary Party Spokesman Vijay Kumar Malhotra today rubbished the news report suggesting that the panel probing into the cash-for-vote scam had exonerated Samajwadi Party (SP) General Secretary Amar Singh and Congress leader Ahmed Patel.
Mr Malhotra, also party's Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha and the BJP's Chief Ministerial candidate in the coming Delhi Assembly elections, told UNI that the panel at no stage discussed or considered the 'draft report', prepared by the officials of V Kishore Chandra Deo headed seven-member House Committee. The report was circulated in the dying moments of the last meeting and no member had time even to glance at the report, let alone discussing it, Mr Malhotra who is also in the panel said.
''There was no time for discussion or consideration of that report at this meeting. The panel will consider it on October 17 when we will meet again,'' the BJP MP said.
"Such being the case, there is no question of the panel exonerating Mr Singh or Mr Patel as widely reported in the media", he clarified.
