Providing houses, other facilities for labour must for builders: Gov

New Delhi, Oct 6 (UNI) Houses, mobile toilets, cooking fuel and creche are some of the facilities that builders will now have to provide for their construction labour within the site.

The condition has been stipulated by the Ministry of Environment and Forests under the provisions of EIA Notification, 2006.

The infrastucture and other facilities mandatory for the builders also include fuel mobile STP, safe drinking water and medical health care etc.

The housing may be in the form of temporary structures to be removed after the completion of the project.

Given the fact that the construction sector was witnessing a huge growth and engagement of large number of labour had become necessary, it was felt that this provision was necessary to ensure that the construction labour get access to basic facilities and services, the Ministry said here today.
