Yet another rape case surfaces in Kandhamal

Bhubaneswar, Oct 4 (UNI) Close on the heels of the sensational disclosure of a nun rape case in the strife-torn Kandhamal district, another rape incident surfaced today.

While the district was gripped by communal violence in the aftermath of the assassination of VHP leader Swami Laxmananda Saraswati and four of his disciples on August 23 a girl was allegedly gangraped by five miscreants on September 19.

The victim had lodged a complaint with the Tikabali police station and one Manoj Pradhan was arrested, but four others accused involved in the ghastly crime were still at large.

The girl, belonging to a majority community, in her complaint, alleged that five miscreants had barged into her house where she and her grandfather were staying, dragged her out and gangraped.
