Mill workers resort to agitation on salary
Puducherry, Oct 4(UNI) The workers of the Swadeshi and Sri Bharathi Textile Mills here today resorted to a sit-in-strike.
The agitation was to protest against the failure of the management to enhance their salary for several years together. The workers told newspersons her that while the salary of the staffs were enhanced by Rs 3750 in the last one year, the salary of the workers remained the same for the past nine years .
There are 210 workers in the Swadeshi Cotton Mills and 390 in the Sri Bharathi Mills. The two mills were taken over by the Puducherry administration about two years ago.
