KSRTC undertake novel schemes to make it viable: Minister
Pathanamthitta, Oct 4 (UNI) Kerala Transport Minister Mathew T Thomas today said the government was trying to implement various innovative schemes aimed at making the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) a viable and profitable public sector venture.
Talking to reporters here, he said KSRTC's annual revenue had increased from Rs 68 crore to Rs 90 crore during the last two years.
As part of a rejuvenation programme, shopping complexes would be built at 30 KSRTC bus-stations in the state at an estimated cost of Rs 100 crore.
He said 1,000 new buses would be put into service this year also.
KSRTC bus services to Pampa would be inreased during the Sabarimala pilgrimage season.
Mr Thomas said pay revision of KSRTC employees was in progress and the corporation had to bear additional financial burden of Rs seven crore on this count.
