DMDK to launch unique prog for visually impaired tomorrow
Chennai, Oct 4 (UNI) Actor politician Vijayakanth, founder President of the nascent Desiya Munnetra Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) today announced that the party would launch a unique programme for the visually impaired.
''The DMDK party will launch a unique programme for the visually impaired youth, aiming to empower them through computer education and personality development,'' a party release here said.
He said the party would inaugurate the programme by installing the JAWS software, which is a user-friendly screen reading software for the visually impaired, that converts a normal PC into a talking computer so that the blind can learn to operate the computer independently.
Mr Vijaykanth and Ms Premalatha Vijayakanth would launch the programme at the DMDK party headquaters here tomorrow, the release said.
Mr K Pandia Rajan of Ma Foi has spearheaded this initiative and has played a key role in coordinating for this programme, it said adding ''this is a unique initiative that will train youth on all aspects of career and personality development.'' This project covers Communicative English, Basics of computers, exposure to MS office, employment registration, Venture Capital, support and guidance for establishing micro enterprises and the like, it added.
