17-yr-old raped, seven months pregnant

Mumbai, Oct 4 (UNI) A 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth since March this year at Govandi, an eastern suburb of the city.

Police said here today that the accused Shakeel Jamil (20), who had been allegedly raping the girl at her residence since March this year, had promised to marry her.

When Jamil came to know that the girl was pregnant, he told her that he was going to his native place in Uttar Pradesh to talk to his parents about their marriage and would marry her on return, police said. Parents of the girl, who is seven months pregnant, lodged a complaint with the police yesterday, as he has not returned since then.

Police registered a case of rape and further investigation was in progress, police added.
