Sugar guota release manipulated dto favour hoarders: Gidwani

New Delhi, Oct 3 (UNI) Sugar quota is being released in the open market in such a manner as to favour the hoarders and gamblers, a Congress leader accused the Union Food Ministry and sought intervention of the Prime Minister to put an end to the ''manipulations'' aimed at raising the price of essential commodity.

In a communication to Dr Manmohan Singh, AICC member and former FCI Director Kanhaiyalal Gidwani said ''the quantity of the released quota is deliberately kept short for the ongoing festive seasons from October to December as to create an artificial shortage and thereby to increase the price for gains.''
