TN: Bomb threat in school turns out hoax

Chennai, Oct 3: An anonymous call stating that bombs would explode on the premises of a school at suburban Puzhuthivakkam in St Thomas Mount area turned out to be a hoax today.

Police said authorities of the St Thomas Mount Matriculation School received two calls, one from a landline number and the other from a mobile phone around 0830 hrs, warning that bombs had been planted in the premises and they would explode.

On information, police and bomb detection squad personnel made a thorough search of the premises. However, no explosives were found.

However, the search operation were carried out without disturbing the classes, but the school remained open.

Police secured two people, John (43), hailing from Nanganallur, and Biju (37) from Thoraipakkam, based on the numbers that appeared in the caller-ID phone during the interrogation. They were being questioned.
