'Yuva Dasara' gets off in Karnataka

Mysore, Oct 2: The 'Yuva Dasara' celebrations were declared open here last night. Noted Cricketer Vijya Bhardwaj inaugurated the glittering event.

Attractive music and dance programmes were held by noted artistes. Celebrities in various streams of art will showcase their talents for the next six days.

The district administration has made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the event. Several precautionary measures have been taken to prevent any untoward incident.

Singer Shankar Mahadevan, Noted Drummer Shivamani and flautist Praveen Godhindi will be performing during the six days.

Earlier, to promote 'Yuva Dasara' a day-long road show was organised.

Despite heavy rainfall lashing the city, the programme went ahead with organisers making arrangements to set right the huge pandal at the venue.

Meanwhile, for the first time, the State Government had organised a 'Farmers Dasara.' It was inaugurated by Karnataka Agriculture Minister S A Ravindranath.
