Utt Goenkara asks Monseratte to resign
Panaji, Oct 2 (UNI) Utt Goenkara, a local NGO, today demanded that Goa education minister Atanasio (Babush) Monseratte should immediately resign from the cabinet to allow police to fairly investigate the allegations levelled against him of submitting false educational qualification in an affidavit.
Organisation spokesman Advocate Aires Rodrigues said if Mr Monserrate continues in the office, he would manipulate the investigations.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Crisanto Fernandes on September 30 directed the police to expeditiously investigate and file a report on the criminal complaint filed by Advocate Rodrigues, that Mr Monseratte had lied in a declaration submitted during the Goa Legislative Assembly election, that he had passed second year BA and had completed Secondary School Certificate from St Theresa School, Bandra, Mumbai, whereas he had only passed class seven from the School.
The next hearing in the case is on November one.
