Jammu, Oct 2 (UNI) Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti (SAYSS), that led the two-month-long agitation in Jammu on the controversial land diversion issue, today accused National Conference president Omar Abdullah of insulting the people of Jammu for appeasing the fundamentalist forces in Kashmir valley.

Taking serious note of Mr Omar Abdullah's recent statements, that blamed Jammu people for present turmoil in Kashmir, the SAYSS warned National Conference leadership against insulting people of Jammu region.

''Instead of taking stand against fundamentalist forces of Kashmir, who have already started social boycott of Jammu people, Mr Omar Abdullah is brazenly trying to appease the forces responsible for present crises in Kashmir Valley,'' the SAYSS regretted in a statement here.

Anti-national and fundamentalist forces in the Valley, in connivance with the so-called main stream political parties, have launched a dangerous campaign to weaken economy of Jammu region, the SAYSS pointed out.

''Instead of taking a tough stand against divisive forces, the National Conference leader is raking up the issue of so-called 'economic blockade' to accomplish game plan of anti-national forces,'' the SAYSS said.

Samiti also condemned the Jammu-based National Conference leaders for being a mute spectator to all this.

Sangharsh Samiti also expressed its concern over recently released selection list of Jammu and Kashmir Professional Entrance Examinations in which majority of the candidates from Kashmir Valley have been selected.

''We will oppose such discriminatory attitude of the present dispensation. During our recent meeting, Governor N N Vohra had sought our cooperation to maintain peace in Jammu region. If these types of discrimination continue we will not remain as a mute spectator and would come on streets to oppose such step motherly treatment with Jammu region,'' the Samiti said, demanding implementation of Singhal Committee report to remove such discrimination once for all.

Meanwhile, the SAYSS announced that it would hold a function on October 5 at S D Sabha School, Rehari (Jammu) to felicitate the families of martyrs who had laid down their lives during 63-days-long agitation.
