Srinagar, Oct 2 (UNI) Paying rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra said he was an apostle of peace and a true believer of non-violence.
Mr Vohra said the message of the Father of Nation for peace, non-violence and amity has increasing relevance in today's world, which is facing serious threats from multiple challenges of violence, hatred and intolerance.
In a message on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti, the Governor recalled the struggle of the Mahatma against social injustice, racism and suppression of the downtrodden and his sustained battle for uplifting the under-privileged segments of the society.
He said the best way of paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi is to take every possible measure to strengthen the bonds of communal harmony and intra-regional brotherhood.
