INLD terms Sonia rally as a flop show
Chandigarh, Oct 2 (UNI) The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) has criticised the Hooda government for spending crores of rupees to appease Congress president Sonia Gandhi who addressed a rally at Panipat today.
In a statement issued here, INLD state president Ashok Arora termed the rally as a 'total failure'.
Mr Arora said that Ms Gandhi had come to Haryana four times after the formation of Congress government in the state but had disappointed the people of the state every time.
As in the previous rallies she addressed, Ms Gandhi this time too did not utter a single word for the completion of the SYL canal or say anything about a separate High Court for Haryana, Arora said. She has not bothered to announce any special package for the state, he added while claiming that the Congress had no concern for the people.
Arora claimed that the people were lured to the rally on the promise of free plots but the rally venue meant for 30,000 people remained empty. The poor attendance was despite the fact that a large section of government employees were asked to attend the rally, he said.
The INLD leader further said Sarpanches, Panches, Zila Parishad and Panchatyat Samiti members were also coerced to attend the rally.
