Id celebrated in Manipur

Imphal, Oct 2 (UNI) Id-ul-Fitr was celebrated in Manipur today amid gaiety and splendour.

Prayers were held at all the mosques and feasts were also organised.

Governor Gurbhachan Jagat greetings the people on the occasion said ''celebration of the holy festival is the propagation of the message of peace, brotherhood and friendship which are the sustaining forces of securing peaceful co-existence in human society.'' Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh said , the ''Id-Ul-Fitr marks the end of Ramzaan. It is a day of thanksgiving for the strength, discipline and piety earned through the month of fasting gone by.

On this day of rejoicing and festivities, let us not forget that the true spirit of Id-Ul-Fitr is in contributing our mite towards the betterment of the poor and the deprived.
