Mehrauli blast: Cops detain two suspects
New Delhi, Sep 28: Delhi police arrested two persons in connection with Saturday, Sep 27"s bomb blast in South Delhi"s Mehrauli area. As per the reports, one of the detained persons, Nanakchand, belongs to Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh while the other is from Ballabhgarh, Haryana. Police sources said that the cell phone detained from Nanakchand was used to make a crank call to news channels on Friday, Sep 26.The other detainee allegedly sold the SIM card used to make the call.
The eyewitnesses of the blast have revealed earlier that the bikers who planted the bomb were in their 20s, and were shabbily dressed and going from Mehrauli to MG Road. Cops believe that the group involved in the blast is based in West Bengal"s Jalpaiguri district.
Meanwhile, the death toll in the Mehrauli blast in south Delhi on Sunday, Sep 28 rose to three with one more person succumbing to his injuries at a hospital here.
On Saturday, Sep 27 a low intensity bomb blast rocked a flower market in Mehrauli. The blast came exactly two weeks after Delhi was rocked by five serial bomb blasts in which 24 people were killed and more than 100 injured.
Keeping in mind the approaching festival season, security has been beefed up at religious places and temples across the country. There are plans to deploy plain clothed policemen and the security agencies are planning a verification of volunteers.
